Equivalency: SSI + PADI Refresher

The SUBEX Dive Up Date is for customers who have completed diving training, have done a few dives or want to refresh their diving skills after a long break from diving.

Equivalency/Brevet: CMAS/GDL DTSA Nitrox / SSI SC-EAN Enriched Air Nitrox

At SUBEX we dive with air28, a light nitrox mix for which divers do not need to take an extra course.
The background is that the dive computers remain set to the mixture of 21% oxygen. So SUBEX divers only experience increased safety, while they are still allowed to dive up to the recreational dive limit of 40 meters. They do not extend their bottom time during the dive.
If you want to extend your bottom time during the dive by using the Nitrox mixtures 32 or 36 and minimize the risk of nitrogen narcosis, you should have a Nitrox diving certificate, which enables you to dive safely and healthily with the changed oxygen-nitrogen ratio.

Equivalence/Crevet: CMAS/GDL SK Marine Biology Basic/ SSI Marine Ecology diver

Do you want to get a first insight into marine biology? Do you have an eye for the smaller reef inhabitants and would you like to get to know them better? Then this theoretical specialty course is just right for you. This is followed by a guided dive where you will be shown what you have learned underwater.

Would you like to be able to find your way around the reefs under water and always find your way back to the boat or to the entry and exit point? Do you want to find and discover the highlights of every reef together with your partner without a guide? Would you like to learn how to handle a compass and to be able to orientate yourself safely at natural points? Then the special course Navigation is the right choice!

Equivalency/Brevet: SSI SC-PB Perfect Buoyancy

What is neutral buoyancy? Scuba divers prefer neutral buoyancy, which means that they neither sink nor rise. And that can be a tricky business. Divers who have mastered the fine art of buoyancy control clearly stand out from the crowd. Surely you have seen them glide effortlessly underwater and need less air, they rise and fall and float in the open water as if it were the easiest thing in the world. They handle the sensitive habitats with care and leave hardly any traces behind.

Do you want to further your education in marine biology? Do you have an eye for the small reef dwellers and want to get to know them better? We open your eyes and you will recognize living creatures you have otherwise carelessly swum past.

Equivalency/Brevet: CMAS/GDL SK Advanced Skill Diver

If you want to improve your existing diving skills and recognize new ones, then we recommend the Advanced Skill Diver course. The main focus is on perfect buoyancy, fin technique and buoyancy control with alternative air supply.

Equivalency/Brevet: CMAS/GDL AK Tauchsicherheit & Rettung / SSI SC-SR Stress & Rescue Diver

In the advanced course “Diving Safety & Rescue” you will be familiarised in theory and practice with preventive accident avoidance and the measures to be taken in the event of a diving accident.
In 3 dives and 2 theory lessons you will learn important skills to safely conduct deep dives up to 40m.

Equivalency/Brevet: CMAS/GDL AK HLW / SSI SC-RR React Right

In the advanced course “Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation” CPR you will be trained in theory and practice with regard to emergencies, especially in recreational diving. You will learn how to assess consciousness, control breathing, establish a stable lateral position and focus on cardiopulmonary resuscitation and possibly oxygen in a diving accident. Resuscitation skills are important for every level of training!

Equivalency/Brevet: CMAS/GDL SK Wracktauchen/ SSI SC-WR Wreck Diving

Further eductaion with VDST (CAMS) or SSI.
In our special course “wreck diving” you will be familiarized in theory and practice with the safe planning, preparation and execution of wreck dives.
During the course you will also learn where to find information about wrecks, how to search and find a wreck and what preparations are necessary for a dive at a shipwreck.
There are many famous wrecks in the Red Sea that you can explore.

Equivalency/Brevet: CMAS/GDL SK Strömungstauchen / SSI SC-WTC Waves, Tides & Current

In the special course “Drift Diving” you will be familiarized in theory and practice with the safe planning, preparation and execution of drift dives.

Equivalency/Brevet: SSI SC-BD Boat Diving

How do I recognize a good dive boat? How do I behave correctly on the boat and what do I have to pay attention to when getting on?
You will get the answers to these and many other questions during this advanced training course. In addition, there are valuable tips for booking dive trips and using additional equipment.

Equivalency/Brevet: SSI SC-ET Equipment Techniques

In 2 dives and theory lessons you will learn important skills to use, store and fix your dive gear.
What should I pay attention to when buying my own equipment? Which equipment parts are particularly recommended and useful? How is the diving equipment properly stored?
You will get the answers to these and many other questions during this advanced training course. In addition, there are valuable tips on how to carry out small repairs to the equipment yourself.
Regulator, buoyancy aid, fins, mask, snorkel and dive computer are important parts of your diving equipment. Learn how to handle them properly.

Equivalency/Brevet: CMAS/GDL AK Nachttauchen / SSI SC-LV Night & Limited Visibility

In 2 night or in limited visibility dives and 1 theory lessons you will learn important skills to perform dives in poor visibility, or at night.
Do you like to admire the inhabitants of the reef and the coral landscape at dusk or at night?
Do you want to be able to find your way around any dive site at night and respectfully use your torch in the dark?
Do you want to discover as much as possible in the light of your underwater lamp and know where exactly to look?

Equivalency/Brevet: SSI SC-REC Search & Recovery

Things that fall and sink in the water are not lost forever, because well trained divers can find them again and recover them!
In this course you will learn how to do this. In two dives (not included in the price) you learn search patterns, compass navigation and also how to lift objects. Search and recovery techniques are also explained clearly by the instructor in the theory lesson. Everything is discussed in detail, from the planning and execution to the recovery.

Equivalency/Brevet: CMAS/GDL SK Ozeanologie/ SSI SC-NAT Marine Ecology

Learn About different ecosystems in the sea and how their inhabitants interact and live together. Food chains, symbiosis and other interesting subjects will be discussed and discovered under water.

Brevet: SSI Advanced Open Water Diver

If you can't decide which specialty course is right for you, take an SSI Advanced Open Water Diver course! This course allows you to learn about different diving topics before deciding on a full specialty course. It's a great way to learn what your Advanced training is all about and how valuable it can be to your diving adventures. The Advanced Open Water Diver course allows you to improve and deepen your skills in five additional dives with an instructor. After a detailed briefing with your instructor, you will complete one open water training dive per specialty. This introductory course gives you the opportunity to discover all the specialty courses.

Brevet: SSI Advanced Specialty Diver

The SSI Advanced Specialty Diver is a combination of experience and continuing education and is certified as a recognition level.
