Excursion to the “GOLDEN” Dive.
Dahab (which means “gold”), which has become world famous through the diving spots “The Blue Hole” and “The Canyon”, has retained its originality to this day. The golden village is 1 hour’s drive from Sharm el Sheikh on the Gulf of Aqaba. Goats and camels can be found everywhere and the Bedouin children who offer their handmade, traditional bracelets are simply part of it.
PROGRAM:
The day begins at around 6:45 a.m. with the departure from your hotel. After about 1.5 hours of driving with our air-conditioned minibus, we reach our 1st diving spot, the legendary Blue Hole. Directly on the beach are the Bedouin Coffee Shops, in front of which we sheltered from the sun, spread our carpets to get our equipment ready.
After a short tea / coffee break where we can enjoy the view of the sea and the mountains of Saudi Arabia, we start strengthened and fully equipped to an approx. 5 minute walk. The entrance to the diving spot, called “El Bells” is ahead of us. The descend is made through a hole in the reef top, which continues like a chimney under water. Past the beautifully overgrown steep wall, it goes over a saddle into the blue hole, which you can then simply dive through the blue water or along the wall to the exit point.
We use the surface break for the ride to our second dive site “The Canyon”, which we reach after about 15 minutes. Now it’s time for a well-deserved breakfast.
The dive itself starts with an easy entry over the beach through a flat sandy lagoon. From a distance you can see from the many small air bubbles that rise through the surface of the canyon that you have reached your destination. The canyon is entered at a depth of around 20 meters through a large opening. Up to 10 meters high and practically closed at the top, the classic canyon meanders down to a depth of over 50 meters, but it is possible to get off at different depths. Fans of caves will get their money’s worth here. Passing sand eels and beautiful coral blocks, it goes back to the exit.
We spend the rest of the day in the village. Here we have the opportunity to have a delicious meal in a restaurant right by the water. There is also still time for a little shopping tour before going back to Sharm. We will be back at the hotel around 5:30 p.m.
